When
I met Kalon,
Dr. Sands' son, in 1992, neither one of us was involved with alternative medicine,
marketing, manufacturing, sales or even knowledgeable about arthritis or
it’s treatment. We had our own careers and no health issues at that point.
We married in 1994 and I
had not as yet met his father, Dr Sands, who lived on the other side of the
country. We went on with our new life and it wasn’t until around the
beginning of 1996 that Kal started to complain of pain and stiffness in his
neck. We didn’t think much of it at first but it gradually was getting
worse. We tried pain killers and heating pads and anything else we could
think of. Finally Kal went to the doctor and it
was
diagnosed as arthritis.
We were talking with Dr. Sands one day and
Kal mentioned he had a lot of arthritis pain. That’s when we learned
about Dr. Sands’ discovery of a natural cure for arthritis. We knew he
had been working on a cure for AIDS, which like arthritis is a disease of
the immune system. This immune research lead
to an obscure little three page article in a
pharmaceutical journal. As often happens in the area of research, after
pursuing every conceivable avenue of investigation regarding arthritis, Dr.
Sands found the cure for arthritis while looking for the cure for aids. So he sent
us some of his arthritis pills.
Well, those pills
he sent just sat there at first. You know how guys are and Kal is a
stubborn man who refuses to admit when he needs medical attention... even if
it is from his own father! A month later the pain and stiffness was so
intense he could hardly turn his head, work on the computer or kiss me
without cringing. I handed him the pills.
Kal tried the natural cure and within four days his arthritis pain was
gone. His neck was limber again and it was like a miracle. Just four days
worth of pills and he was cured of arthritis forever (well, it’s lasted for
at least 11 years so far).
We
just couldn't believe it was true. We started looking up everything we
could find on arthritis and both traditional and alternative treatments,
most of which appeared to be pain killers and not very effective. Kal’s
interest grew in the possibilities for CMO and what a great benefit it would
be for arthritis sufferers. I continued in my career and watched with
interest as Kal made the decision to handle the
marketing of CMO and get it to the people who needed it. In 1996 he
officially started his project on the local level and gave CMO to some of
his friends or friends' parents who had
arthritis and got wonderful results. I had to
see this for myself since I thought perhaps Kal’s recovery might have just
been a fluke. The product was consistently working and our feedback from
both acquaintances and initial buyers was very
encouraging.
In 1998 the first website
was born and now we weren't just on the national level
but we were spreading the word about CMO internationally. We
had many individuals and small companies that wanted to distribute CMO. We
were getting orders from all over the world. Eventually corporations in
China, Korea and the United Kingdom wanted to market CMO and were ordering
the powder and or capsules from us. We had visitors to our office from
China, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Egypt the UK and several middle eastern countries. I watched Dr. Sands talk with Dr. Atkins
and saw Kal give Kevin Truedau CMO for his mom. I
witnessed distribution arrangements with some of the largest European drug
companies. And I
talked to people who called to ask about
CMO and how it worked and listened to their
stories about how arthritis affected their lives. There were so many sad stories of affliction, wheelchairs
and losing the ability to do simple things like hold your own coffee cup.
I was glad to be associated with a product that had such a high success rate
because those same people would call back later with stories of their
recovery and shower us with gratitude and encouragement. It was an
exciting and productive time for everyone involved.
In one of the more dramatic recoveries, CMO saved the
life of someone so debilitated they had lost 80lbs, were in an oxygen tent
with COPD and their arthritis was so bad, they were bedridden and couldn't
walk to bathroom. They felt they had no hope of surviving and were
leafing through cemetery brochures with their family. In a last ditch
effort to provide some comfort, the family found CMO on the internet.
They were skeptical, but they felt they had nothing to lose, so they
tried CMO hoping their dad could at least go to bathroom with some dignity
in his final days.
His name was Frank. His recovery was radical but
slower than usual. He called in several times and I patched him in a
conference call with Dr. Sands because his condition was so severe.
Eventually he ended up taking several bottles of CMO, got back on his feet,
regain his lost weight and put away the cemetery brochures.
I'll never forget that story about Frank because a few
months later, I was lining up participants for one of Dr. Sands' radio shows
and suggested we have Frank come on the show. When I called, his
family said Frank wasn't available because he was out golfing. I
thought to myself, "way to go Frank!"
Over the
years, eventually, I talked with thousands of people that called to thank us
after they cured their arthritis with CMO. I have the energy of a
thousand thanks to keep me going.
However, it became harder to spread the word because in the original
website there were statements made referring to CMO as a "treatment" and
making reference to people who had been helped as well as keeping it updated
with news and studies about CMO. Apparently
a doctor can tell you vitamin C is a "treatment" that cures scurvy or CMO
cures arthritis, but the manufacturers can't. Kal
was contacted by the FTC and an investigation began. The investigation
turned into a battle that found Kal and the CMO Distribution Centers of
America, Inc. challenging the FTC's position and procedures. It became
a ground breaking (and expensive) case.
Right
after the FTC tried to shut CMO down, the FDA also took a shot at it.
The FTC had sent the FDA letter a letter about
CMO and they came to inspect the facility. Kal got the attorneys on
the phone, patched everyone in on speaker phone and the attorneys demanded
the FDA explain what grounds they were inspecting on. The FDA was
dumbfounded, despite the fact that it is their required procedure. I
guess you can't just "inspect" someone then decide what you are inspecting
them for afterwards. You have to have a reason, a set of rules.
Finally the FDA said that because of the "treatment" claims, they were going
to inspecting the CMO distribution offices as a drug labeling facility.
Well, the facility passed inspection, the product and product labels passed, everything passed.
Much to the chagrin of the
FTC, the FDA said that CMO and all the other associated products were perfectly alright. By May of 2000 an agreement with the FTC was reached,
the website was shut down and all claims in the US ceased. That left us with an excellent treatment
for arthritis that was okay to manufacture, label and distribute, but we could
not talk about what it did, not at all. Fortunately there were several
books that could talk freely about it. We do still have freedom of speech in
the United States and Dr.
Sands, who used CMO in his clinic, wasn't the only voice they couldn't
squelch. Fortunately, other doctors had joined the bandwagon like Dr.
Atkins, Dr. Donsbach, Dr. Hunt and several other authors also wrote about
CMO.
In 2001 shortly before 9/11 my beloved Father-in-law, Dr Sands, passed away
and left a huge void in our lives, in the medical community and all who knew
and loved him. Through his good works and never ending search for continuing
treatments in the arena of immune related disease his contributions were
immeasurable. We not only lost a great man, but the voice of CMO died.
Kal and I regretfully
decided to separate and get divorced. We both moved on with our lives
but remained friends. In 2004, I was having back problems and found
out I had arthritis. I never dreamed that one day, I would be the
voice on an incoming phone call to the CMO offices telling them of my aches,
my pains and asking them for a bottle. I am happy to say that as I
expected, it worked like a charm.
Since there is basically
what is considered a gag order by the FTC and information cannot be shared
by anyone who is selling CMO I decided to finally speak out. I do not
manufacture, market, sell or profit in any way from CMO. But I did profit
greatly by taking it and I know first hand from the endless hours I spent on
the phone with those suffering with this horrible disease what a remarkable
product it is. I do have freedom of speech and the right to share my story
and experience. I hope you will benefit from my ability to share my story
and information about CMO without government interference. My prayer for you
is that CMO will be as effective for you as it has been for so many others
and that I have had a small part in making that happen.
I loving memory of Dr.
Sands, I give you his book for free.
